How it is calculated
Wears per bottle = sprays in the bottle ÷ sprays per wear. Cost per wear = bottle price ÷ wears per bottle. We assume roughly 10 sprays per millilitre, so a 50ml bottle is about 500 sprays and a 100ml about 1,000, the same figures we quote on our product pages. Choosing a fragrance fills the designer side with its current UK RRP and largest standard size, and our side with the 50ml inspired-by price. Edit any field to match your own bottle.
Questions
What is cost per wear?
Cost per wear is the price of a bottle divided by the number of times you can wear it. It is the only fair way to compare fragrances, because a bigger or more concentrated bottle can be cheaper per wear even if it costs more up front.
How many sprays are in a bottle?
A 50ml atomiser delivers roughly 500 sprays and a 100ml about 1,000, at approximately 10 sprays per millilitre. At an average of 4 sprays per wear, a 50ml bottle lasts around 125 wears, which is about four months of daily use.
How many sprays should I use?
Two to four sprays to pulse points suits most fragrances. Our inspired-by scents are 22 to 30 per cent oil, so you can use fewer sprays than a typical designer eau de toilette and still get all-day wear. The calculator defaults to 4, adjust it to how you actually wear.
Why is the inspired-by version cheaper per wear?
Two reasons: the bottle costs a fraction of the designer price, and at 22 to 30 per cent oil it is more concentrated than many designer eau de toilettes, so fewer sprays go further. You are paying for the juice, not the logo.
