Raspberry
Raspberry is a synthetic fruity accord recreating the tart-sweet character of the berry. Built primarily from frambinone, it became one of the most heavily used fruity notes in modern feminine perfumery from 2010 onwards.
About Raspberry
Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) yields no economically viable essential oil, so the note in perfumery is entirely synthetic — built primarily from frambinone (also called raspberry ketone), a powerful aromatic molecule that smells unmistakably of red berries even in trace quantities. The accord reads as tart, slightly jammy, faintly green-stem, and pairs especially well with rose, pink pepper, and vanilla. Raspberry is a signature opening note in compositions including Mugler Angel Nova, Lancôme La Vie est Belle Iris Absolu, and Maison Francis Kurkdjian À la Rose. The note rose to dominance from 2010 onwards as part of the broader "fruity rose" category that has shaped feminine perfumery for the last 15 years.
