The scents that last longest are built on oud, amber, vanilla, leather and musk, at eau de parfum strength or above. Every fragrance below is blended at 22 to 30 percent oil. The order is not our opinion: it is how many verified customers wrote that the scent lasts.
How the ranking works. We read every approved review in the shop and count the ones that say the scent lasts (all day, long lasting, still there the next morning). A review that says it fades is counted against. Recounted every 12 hours, last on 6 November 2026.

Which type of perfume lasts the longest
The strength on the box tells you how much of the bottle is fragrance oil. More oil, longer wear. These are the usual ranges on skin.

Why these scents last, and how to make any scent last longer
- The base notes do the work. Oud, amber, vanilla, musk, leather and resins evaporate slowly. Citrus and aquatic notes are built to be light and leave first, whoever makes them.
- Moisturise first. Scent clings to oil. An unscented moisturiser on the skin before you spray can add hours.
- Pulse points, and do not rub. Wrists, neck, behind the ears, inside the elbows. Rubbing breaks the top notes and shortens the wear.
- Keep the bottle out of the light and the bathroom. Heat and light break a fragrance down. A drawer in a cool room keeps it as it was made.

Which type of perfume lasts the longest?
Parfum (also called extrait) lasts longest, usually eight hours or more, because 20 to 40 percent of the bottle is fragrance oil. Eau de parfum is next at roughly five to eight hours, eau de toilette three to five, and eau de cologne one to two. Our fragrances are blended at 22 to 30 percent oil, which is the top of the eau de parfum range and into parfum strength.

What makes a perfume last longer?
Two things in the bottle: how much fragrance oil is in it, and what sits in the base. Heavy base notes such as oud, amber, vanilla, musk, leather and resins evaporate slowly, so they are still on the skin hours after a citrus top note has gone. Then the skin: moisturised skin holds scent far longer than dry skin, and spraying on pulse points without rubbing keeps the structure intact.
How long should perfume last on skin?
An eau de parfum should give you five to eight hours on skin. Heavier oud, amber and vanilla scents reach ten or twelve. Fresh citrus and aquatic scents are built to be light and usually fade in three to five hours whatever the brand.
Does a more expensive perfume last longer?
No. The oil concentration and the base notes decide how long a scent lasts, not the price on the box. Much of a designer price is the brand, the advertising and the shop. That is why a well-made inspired-by fragrance at eau de parfum strength lasts as long as the bottle it is inspired by.
