Parfums de Marly Delina · Review, Notes & UK Buyer’s Guide (2026)

By Katie Johnson · · 17 min read · Last updated 20 May 2026

Last updated: May 2026 · Written by Katie Johnson, founder of The Fragrance World (Liverpool, UK)

Parfums de Marly Delina is a rhubarb-rose Eau de Parfum launched in 2017, composed by Quentin Bisch. It opens with litchi, rhubarb, bergamot, nutmeg and black currant, settles into a Turkish rose, peony, musk, Petalia and vanilla heart, and dries down on cashmeran, incense, cedar, Haitian vetiver and caramel. UK retail is £270 for 75ml at Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and the Parfums de Marly Mayfair boutique. It is one of the most-bought niche feminine fragrances in the UK and the defining “rhubarb-rose” of the modern niche category. The Fragrance World Delina (£29.95 / 50ml) is the closest UK alternative we have tested · same opening arc, EDP-grade at 22-30% oil concentration, 8-10 hour wear, made in Liverpool.

TFW perspective: Delina is the second most-asked-about fragrance in our customer-service inbox after Baccarat Rouge 540. Most people who buy our Delina at £29.95 do so after the boutique price quote · £270 for the 75ml is the most common trigger point.

What is Parfums de Marly Delina?

Parfums de Marly is a French niche house founded in 2009 by Julien Sprecher[1], named after the Château de Marly built by Louis XIV in 1679[2]. The house position is “modern luxury rooted in 18th-century French perfumery”, and the bottles all carry the equestrian motif of a rearing horse. Delina launched in 2017[3] as the flagship of the women’s collection.

The composition is credited to Quentin Bisch[4], a French perfumer at Givaudan[5] whose other credits include Mugler Angel Nova, Cacharel Yes I Am, Diptyque Eau Capitale, and several other Parfums de Marly compositions. Delina is widely regarded as his signature commercial success · the fragrance that took PDM from “niche-house-collectors-know” to mainstream high-end retail in three seasons.

Inside the catalogue, Delina sits at the centre of the women’s range. PDM extends it with Delina Exclusif (more intense, oud-heavy) and Delina La Rosée (lighter, more transparent). The standard Delina EDP is the one most people mean when they say “Delina”.

UK distribution is through Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Liberty London, Fenwick and the Parfums de Marly Mayfair boutique on Mount Street. Retail price: £270 for 75ml[6] at time of writing.

Notes pyramid

Layer Notes[7]
Top Litchi, rhubarb, bergamot, nutmeg, black currant
Heart Turkish rose, peony, musk, Petalia, vanilla
Base Cashmeran, incense, cedar, Haitian vetiver, caramel

The top is the headline · rhubarb is the rare note here, paired with the slightly powdery sweetness of lychee. A whisper of black currant and nutmeg lifts the opening with a tart-fruity-spicy edge. The heart is a soft floral built around Turkish rose and peony, with Petalia (an IFF molecule that reads as a clean lily-of-the-valley-rose hybrid), white musk and vanilla warming the structure. The base is built on cashmeran (a synthetic woody-musk molecule) for that “skin-but-better” warmth, with incense, cedar, Haitian vetiver and a quiet caramel sweetness as the supporting cast.

What does Delina actually smell like?

Delina opens with a sharp, almost tart rhubarb top · green, slightly sour, freshly cut. Within two minutes the litchi softens the edge and the bergamot lifts it; nutmeg and black currant sit underneath, adding a tart-spicy depth that stops the opening reading as too pink. By minute ten the rhubarb has receded and the Turkish rose has arrived · not a heavy, jammy rose, but a clean, dewy one supported by peony, Petalia, vanilla and a soft musk.

From hour one onwards the base does the work. Cashmeran gives that distinctive PDM “warm clean laundry” character that runs through most of the house’s compositions; the incense and Haitian vetiver add quiet structure underneath; cedar dries the dry-down and a touch of caramel adds a softly sweet edge. By hour three the fragrance reads as a soft, slightly powdery, lightly sweet rose skin scent · the kind that draws compliments without announcing itself.

The unifying impression: freshly cut spring flowers on a warm wrist. It is feminine without being girlish, sweet without being gourmand, modern without being synthetic.

The rhubarb-rose signature · why it’s polarising

Delina divides opinion sharply. Among rose lovers it is widely held to be the best modern commercial rose composition of the last decade. Among gourmand and oud lovers it is dismissed as “too clean”, “too pink”, or “candyfloss perfume”. Both reactions are valid · they reflect what the fragrance is doing.

Three things drive the polarisation:

The polarisation is the proof it works. A fragrance that divides opinion is doing something specific. Delina is one of the few modern niche releases that has built a signature accord (rhubarb + Turkish rose + cashmeran) distinct enough that the trade now refers to “Delina-style” as a category.

Performance · projection, longevity, sillage

Metric Delina EDP
Top-note lifespan 15-30 minutes
Heart dominance window 30 min · 3 hr
Dry-down arrival Hour 3 onwards
Skin life 8-10 hours on most skin
Projection (first hour) Strong
Sillage at hour 4 Moderate · 1m bubble
Sillage at hour 8 Soft skin scent
Best season Spring, summer, mild autumn

Delina performs well above its delicate impression. Two sprays from a 75ml bottle deliver an 8-10 hour skin life on a normal-skin wearer, and projection is genuinely strong in the first hour · the rhubarb-lychee top throws a metre of sillage before settling. The dry-down is closer to skin but lasts most of the day.

Warm-skinned wearers report it sweetens further as the day progresses, with the cashmeran-vanilla base coming forward by hour four. Cool-skinned wearers find it stays in the rose-floral heart longer.

Katie’s wear test · diary

I wore Parfums de Marly Delina for three days in April 2026 from a 5ml decant — once at the office (climate-controlled, ~22°C), once on a 90-minute walk through Sefton Park on a mild spring morning (15°C, low wind), and once at a Friday dinner indoors at The Florist on Hardman Street, ten at the table. Notes from each:

Comparing the TFW Delina to the original on the same day, sprayed on the opposite wrist: the rhubarb-litchi opening is the closest convergence point (the two are almost identical for the first ten minutes); the Turkish rose heart at hour two sits within a hair’s breadth on both wrists; the cashmeran base at hour five is where the two diverge slightly — the TFW version’s cashmeran reads a touch more pronounced, where the PDM original has a faintly more refined integration of cashmeran-vanilla-caramel at the very tail of the dry-down. The office tester I work with picked them as the same fragrance at hour three; she correctly identified the wrists at hour seven by the slightly cleaner finish on the PDM side.

Who suits Delina?

Delina is a feminine fragrance, though the boundary is softening · we sell our Delina inspired-by version to enough male customers that the unisex-leaning label is more accurate than “strictly women’s”.

Demographic sweet spot: women 20-45.

Best occasions:

Skip Delina if: you want a dark, smoky, oud-heavy, or gourmand-vanilla profile. Delina is not that fragrance. For darker rose work see Tom Ford Rose Prick (or its alternative). For oud-rose see Penhaligon’s Halfeti.

Where to buy Delina in the UK

Authorised UK stockists:

The 75ml bottle is the standard UK SKU. Some retailers may list a 125ml flacon as an occasional export listing · verify size and price at point of purchase. Decants from 5-10ml are widely available on niche-sample sites (Scent Split, Olfactif, Decant Boutique) at £15-£25 per 5ml · a way to wear it on skin before committing.

Avoid unauthorised online sellers offering Delina at sub-£150. The most common counterfeits in 2025-2026 testing rounds were unsealed bottles, water-diluted juice or oud-cologne refills repackaged in genuine PDM boxes. If the price seems too low, it is.

The £29.95 alternative · TFW Delina

The Fragrance World Delina at £29.95 for 50ml is our inspired-by interpretation of PDM Delina. We hold our own formula at 22-30% oil concentration (EDP grade), blended in Liverpool, vegan, with the same litchi-rhubarb-bergamot top, Turkish rose · peony · Petalia heart and cashmeran-incense-cedar base.

Where the original wins: the Mount Street boutique, the equestrian bottle, the Marly heritage and the dry-down precision around hour three are part of what £270 buys. If you value any of those, pay the £270.

Common questions

What does Parfums de Marly Delina smell like? Delina is a rhubarb-rose Eau de Parfum. It opens fresh and slightly tart with litchi, rhubarb, bergamot, nutmeg and black currant, develops into a Turkish rose · peony · Petalia heart with musk and vanilla, and dries down on cashmeran, incense, cedar, Haitian vetiver and caramel. The overall impression is freshly cut spring flowers on a warm wrist · feminine, modern, lightly sweet, not gourmand.

How much does Delina cost in the UK? £270 for the 75ml Eau de Parfum at Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Liberty London, Fenwick and the Parfums de Marly Mayfair boutique. The Delina Exclusif variant retails higher than the standard EDP. The Delina La Rosée variant sits in a similar price band to the original.

What is the closest Delina dupe in the UK? The Fragrance World Delina at £29.95 / 50ml is the closest UK alternative we have tested. It is EDP-grade at 22-30% oil concentration, blended in Liverpool, holds roughly 90% of the scent profile through the first hour, and wears 8-10 hours on a normal-skin wearer.

How long does Delina last on skin? Eight to ten hours on a normal-skin wearer, with strong projection in the first hour and a soft skin scent by hour eight. Warm-skinned wearers report the cashmeran-vanilla base comes forward by hour four, sweetening the dry-down.

Is Delina worth £270? If you value the Marly heritage, the equestrian bottle, the Mount Street boutique experience and the precision of the dry-down around hour three, yes. If you only want the smell, the £29.95 TFW alternative will give you roughly 90% of it for one-ninth of the per-ml price.

Who composed Delina? Quentin Bisch, a French perfumer working at Givaudan. Delina launched in 2017 and is regarded as his most commercially successful composition for Parfums de Marly.

What is the difference between Delina and Delina Exclusif? Delina Exclusif is a more intense, oud-heavy variant launched alongside the standard Delina. It darkens the heart with oud and amber, drops the rhubarb prominence and pushes the dry-down further into vanilla-amber territory. Standard Delina is the fresher, more wearable everyday version.

Is Delina unisex? Officially feminine, but in practice it reads as soft-floral-fresh on any wearer and we sell our inspired-by to a meaningful share of male customers. Skin chemistry pushes it slightly drier on men. If you want a more overtly unisex PDM alternative, Layton sits at the masculine-unisex centre of the house.

What does Delina smell like? A rhubarb-rose Eau de Parfum. The opening is sharp and slightly tart — rhubarb, litchi, bergamot, nutmeg and black currant. The heart is a soft floral built around Turkish rose and peony, supported by Petalia, vanilla and white musk. The dry-down is the cashmeran-and-vanilla soft-laundry warmth Parfums de Marly is known for, with incense, cedar, vetiver and caramel underneath. The overall impression is “freshly cut spring flowers on a warm wrist”.

Why is Delina so popular? Three reasons. First, the rhubarb-rose pairing was genuinely new when Delina launched in 2017 — no other mainstream niche release at that price had built a composition around fresh rhubarb. Second, the cashmeran base gives it the soft-laundry “clean and expensive” signature that has become Parfums de Marly’s house DNA. Third, it photographs beautifully — the pink bottle with the equestrian motif has been one of the most TikTok-and-Instagram-friendly luxury fragrance bottles of the last five years, which sustained organic discovery long after the launch year.

Is Delina worth the money? At £270 for 75ml, the price reflects Parfums de Marly’s house positioning (modern French luxury rooted in 18th-century perfumery), the equestrian bottle, the Mount Street boutique experience and the precision of the dry-down phase. If you value any of those, yes. If you only want the rhubarb-rose-cashmeran smell, the £29.95 TFW Delina holds roughly 90% of the scent profile through the first hour for one-ninth of the per-ml price.

How does Delina compare to Delina La Rosée? Delina La Rosée (2018) is the lighter, more transparent flanker — same rhubarb-rose-cashmeran DNA but with a more airy execution, more peony and less of the deeper musk-vanilla base. La Rosée is the spring-summer Delina; the original is the year-round Delina.

How does Delina compare to Delina Exclusif? Delina Exclusif (2018) is the more intense, oud-heavy variant. It darkens the heart with oud and amber, drops some of the rhubarb prominence and pushes the dry-down further into vanilla-amber-oud territory. The standard Delina is the fresher, more wearable everyday version; Exclusif is the cold-weather statement piece.

Why does Delina smell different on different people? Three reasons. First, the rhubarb top behaves differently with different pH skin chemistry — slightly tarter on acidic skin, slightly sweeter on alkaline skin. Second, the cashmeran base is body-temperature-sensitive and reads warmer on people who run warm. Third, skin moisture levels affect how quickly the top notes evaporate — dry skin loses the rhubarb-litchi opening faster and arrives at the rose heart sooner. Try it on your own wrist for at least an hour before judging.

Can men wear Delina? Yes, and a meaningful number of male customers buy our Delina alternative. Officially feminine but reads as soft-floral-fresh on any wearer. Skin chemistry pushes the dry-down slightly drier on male skin (the cashmeran reads less laundry-warm, more clean-woody), which makes the fragrance more wearable on men than the launch marketing might suggest.

What other Parfums de Marly fragrances are popular? The five most-asked-about in our inbox: Delina (women’s flagship · rhubarb-rose), Layton (men’s flagship · lavender-apple-cardamom), Pegasus (men’s · lavender-almond), Herod (men’s · tobacco-vanilla), and Oriana (women’s · sweet floral-fruity). All sit at £225-£280 at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges. TFW holds inspired-by alternatives for Delina, Layton and Herod (other variants in development).

Is Delina too sweet? For most wearers, no — Delina sits around a 6/10 on the gourmand-sweetness scale, sweeter than Chanel No. 5 but well short of YSL Black Opium or Lancôme La Vie Est Belle. The cashmeran-and-vanilla base reads as soft-clean rather than candy-sweet, and the rhubarb-litchi opening keeps the composition fresh through the first hour. If you find Tom Ford Lost Cherry overwhelming, Delina will sit comfortably. If you find Chanel No. 5 too dry, Delina is the natural step warmer.

Is Delina good for the office? Yes — provided you spray conservatively (2 sprays, pulse points only). The composition projects strongly in the first hour but settles into an arm’s-length sillage from hour two onwards that reads as quietly feminine and refined rather than performative. Apply before commute rather than at your desk in shared-space offices.

What season is Delina best for? Spring through to mid-autumn. The rhubarb-rose top is built for mild weather and reads beautifully in the 15-25°C range that covers UK April-October. In very cold British winter the rhubarb top can read flat and the cashmeran base lacks the warmth-amplification that body heat provides in milder conditions. For deep-winter wear, choose Delina Exclusif or layer Delina over a warm body lotion.

What is the difference between Delina and Mancera Roses Vanille? Both are rose-and-sweetness compositions in roughly the same olfactive register but with different structures. Mancera Roses Vanille is heavier — Bulgarian rose paired with vanilla and a brown-sugar gourmand sweetness. Delina is lighter — rhubarb-Turkish-rose-cashmeran paired with a soft musk-vanilla. Roses Vanille reads as “rose dessert”; Delina reads as “rose perfume”. The two are not interchangeable.

Does Delina last on clothes? Yes — significantly longer than on skin. Sprayed on a wool jumper, silk scarf or cashmere knit, Delina remains legibly itself for 24-36 hours because there is no skin oil to break down the cashmeran-vanilla base. The rhubarb-litchi opening fades within a few hours on fabric, but the rose-cashmeran-vanilla dry-down lingers across multiple wears of the garment.

Where can I smell Delina before buying? Three places in the UK: (1) the Parfums de Marly Mayfair boutique on Mount Street (the only standalone PDM shop in the UK); (2) the PDM counters at Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Liberty London and Fenwick; (3) order a 5-10ml decant from a UK marketplace (Scent Split, Olfactif, Decant Boutique) for £15-£25.

Is the cashmeran in Delina natural? No — cashmeran is a synthetic molecule developed by IFF in 1973. It is a woody-musk compound that gives Delina its signature soft-laundry warmth and is used at significant doses in most modern Parfums de Marly compositions. The same molecule appears in Maison Margiela Replica Lazy Sunday Morning, parts of the Tom Ford Signature line and roughly a third of all luxury fragrances launched after 2015. Synthetic does not mean inferior — most modern fragrance building blocks are synthetic, including the rose-oxide and damascone molecules that reconstruct the rose accord alongside the natural rose absolute.

What is the difference between Delina and TFW Delina? Parfums de Marly Delina is the original French luxury fragrance at £270 for 75ml, sold at Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and the PDM Mayfair boutique. TFW Delina is The Fragrance World’s inspired-by composition at £29.95 for 50ml, sold direct from thefragranceworld.co.uk, made in Liverpool. The compositions share the rhubarb-rose-cashmeran DNA; the bottles, brand, retail experience and price are entirely different.
