The 10 Best Winter Fragrances For Men (UK, 2026)

By Katie Johnson · · 3 min read · Last updated 14 May 2026

Winter fragrance choices follow two principles. Project warm: tobacco, oud, leather, vanilla, smoked spice. And project longer than summer: cold suppresses fragrance projection, so 22-30% oil concentration wears richer in November-February than the same fragrance would in July. The 10 picks below are ranked by reported satisfaction in cold-weather wear. All are £29.95 for a 50ml bottle, made in Liverpool, UK.

The 10 picks

1. %%TFWLINK0%% · inspired by Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille

The single most-worn niche fragrance of the last decade in cold weather, full stop. Tobacco leaf and vanilla bourbon over cocoa and tonka. Designer £200-£350; TV £29.95.

2. %%TFWLINK1%% · inspired by Tom Ford Oud Wood

A smooth oud, less rasping than traditional Middle Eastern oud compositions. Rosewood and cardamom at the top, oud and sandalwood through the heart, vanilla and amber in the base. The wearable oud. Designer £200-£350; Oud Wood £29.95.

3. %%TFWLINK2%% · inspired by Kilian Angel’s Share

A boozy gourmand of cognac, vanilla, cinnamon and oak. Reads expensive on first wear. Modest projection in heat, much better in cold. Designer £210-£290; Bourbon £29.95.

4. %%TFWLINK3%% · inspired by Tom Ford Ombre Leather

A leather fragrance with cardamom and white violet at the top, leather and jasmine sambac through the heart, patchouli and amber in the base. Dry and clean, not sweet. Designer £200-£350; Ombre £29.95.

5. %%TFWLINK4%% · inspired by Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb

A spicy-leather with bergamot and grapefruit at the top, cinnamon and saffron through the heart, leather and tobacco in the base. Wears warmer in cold weather by design. Designer £62-£100; Smoked £29.95.

6. %%TFWLINK5%% · inspired by Initio Oud for Greatness

An oud-forward fragrance with saffron at the top, oud and patchouli through the heart, musk and labdanum in the base. Fills a room. The original is on most niche top-10 lists of the last three years. Designer £225-£325; Greatness £29.95.

7. %%TFWLINK6%% · inspired by Creed Aventus

A fruity-smoky chypre. Pineapple, apple, blackcurrant and bergamot at the top, birch and rose through the heart, oakmoss and ambergris in the base. The most-recognised men’s fragrance of the last fifteen years. Designer £225-£370; Victory £29.95.

8. %%TFWLINK7%% · inspired by Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade

An oud-rose with raspberry and incense at the top, oud and Bulgarian rose through the heart, benzoin and birch in the base. Dense, smoky, long-wearing. Built for indoor cold-weather wear. Designer £300-£450; Nomad £29.95.

9. %%TFWLINK8%% · inspired by JPG Scandal Pour Homme

A spicy-leather aromatic with mandarin and clary sage at the top, vetiver and caramel through the heart, tobacco and leather in the base. Warm and rich. Designer £80-£120; Mr Scandal £29.95.

10. %%TFWLINK9%% · inspired by Parfums de Marly Layton

A spicy-vanilla aromatic with apple, lavender and bergamot at the top, geranium and rose through the heart, sandalwood and guaiac in the base. The kind of fragrance that earns compliments in cold weather specifically. Designer £200-£280; Layton £29.95.

Application notes for cold weather

Three things to do differently in winter. Apply on the body, not the coat · wool and synthetic fibres hold fragrance for hours but kill projection. Spray closer to skin, not into the air (the molecules need warmth to project). Use one fewer spray than you’d use in summer; cold air carries less scent, so over-application reads loud indoors.
